Managing a hotel is no easy feat, it takes a lot of skills, patience and coffee. Meet our Executive Hotel Manager Amanda, whose wealth of experience has put Treasury on Collins on the map in Melbourne and how getting to no.2 on TripAdvisor is about the staff at ToC.
Luckily Amanda found 60 seconds in her busy day to answer our questions.
How long have your worked at ToC?
Almost four years now, I came on board shortly after ToC opened.
What do you like about your job?
The people! The staff and our guests. We have a truly amazing team who love working here and in turn our guests love staying here because of our down to earth, personable and friendly staff. The hotel industry is a competitive one and I believe it comes down to delivering exceptional service that is genuine has made us stand out. To read positive reviews about our staff is more important to me than glowing reviews about our rooms or facilities.
Are you a red or white wine drinker?
Hmmm both? Depends on the weather (which is very unpredictable in our wonderful city).
Strangest request by a guest you’ve received?
I wouldn’t even know where to start with this question, we get so many! We had a guest who wanted to arrive at our hotel by a romantic boat (I pictured a gondola in Venice!).
What do you do in your spare time?
My family are very important to me, so I spend most of my time with them and my pets. Being Melbourne born and bred I do like AFL and usually try and get to a game every week (Don’t judge her, Amanda is a Collingwood supporter).
I live in the Yarra Valley so I also like to go for drives and visit wineries I haven’t been to before. I should probably also say shopping.
Are you a dog or cat lover?
Definitely dogs, I have two gorgeous pet dogs who I adore – they are my best friends.
What is your preferred pillow?
Memory Foam.
Favourite bar in Melbourne?
Emerald Peacock – very Melburnian with a rooftop bar.
What super powers do you want?
Time travel
Hardest thing for you to give up?
COFFEE
Dark chocolate or white chocolate?
Neither – I like milk chocolate.
Book you’re reading right now?
It’s called ‘Paris is always a good idea’. A light read (I borrowed it from my Mum) but a feel-good story. I started reading it about a month ago and I am not even a quarter of the way through..
