What’s the one item left in the majority of hotel rooms here at Treasury on Collins for disposal?…empty shoe boxes. This made us conclude that our guests love to shop and buy shoes while they are in Melbourne. While there are a few male shoe boxes, heels down, this blog is directed to the ladies that stay with us.
Here are some of our favourite shoe shops in walking distance from the hotel.
Habbot, The Strand Melbourne and Royal Arcade
What started as humble beginnings in a shed in a St Kilda backyard has grown into a successful shoe brand that offers Italian made shoes with emphasis on uniqueness, colour and creativity. It’s not about the inches of the heel here but more about traditional Italian shoe making to suit today’s modern woman. (600m walk from ToC)
It’s Melbourne’s best kept secret so we’ll let you in on it. If you’ve flicked through the pages of Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar wanting a pair of designer shoes and thought to yourself ‘I can’t afford these’, there is a chance that you may. Maybe not in the season but a season or two later. Located off Collins Street is Luisa, an outlet that sells designer shoes at sometimes 70% off. Here, you’ll find brands including Prada, Fendi, Miu Miu and more plus bags and accessories. (700m walk from ToC)
For the latest in season designer shoes, Miss Louise stocks the current season’s shoes and accessories straight off the runway from Europe. While on the more expensive side or if you can justify the ‘investment’, it’s just as fun to browse and try on the shoes without feeling the guilt of credit card damage afterwards. Brands include Valentino, Versace, Balmain and Tods. (550m walk from ToC)
Located less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel is the Australian iconic brand R.M Williams. Established in 1932 producing leather horse saddles, it was its riding boots that became the more successful product. The brand is synonymous with quality, craftsmanship and longevity. (210m walk from ToC)
UK department store Debenhams opened its door at St Collins lane last October and while there is a not a big shoe collection here, you’ll find UK brands not available elsewhere. While you’re there, you can complete your look with a matching outfit and accessories. (350m walk from ToC)
Keep shopping and we’ll keep recycling your empty shoe boxes.
